Just finished updating my site, extensions and style.

All went well, thanks Dave for fixing those extensions in such a quick time frame. :-)

Cheers! check the navigation.html, I updated it yesterday. So I'm sure few of you who already used the changelog missed that.

I used winmerge to compare changes in the themeforest download and picked up on it prior to uploading. I was going to start a thread on it as it wasn't included in the changelog. ;)

EDIT: There were one or two others too!

Hi guys,

May I ask a confirmation about extensions update.

So far in order to update extensions I was doing the following steps:

1 – Save the forum and database
2 - Disable the board via ACP: Board Settings
3 – Disable the extension in ACP (without deleting data)
4 – Copy new files on previous files

So if I understand correctly I was doing something wrong.

For 3 I should delete datas and only then copy new files in FTP folder once previous files are deleted.

Excepted for extensions like BBlike which are storing datas in SQL daabase, where I should never delete data in ACP otherwise sql informations will be lost, but for this case, I should disable the extension in ACP, then delete the files using FTP and copy new files.

Considering the latest infos, upgrade can be done now ? ;)

Many thanks for your inputs guys,

Have a nice week-end.
Cheers,
G

Hi,

I have not yet updated Phpbb to 3.1.10 as advised, I will wait for a go in the forum before to proceed.

Whatever, I have some other updates to perfom, here is the list:

I also have to update Flatboots Theme from 2.0.9 to 2.0.10.

So here how I see the thing:

1-Save the board
2-Disable all Sitesplat’s extensions
3-Delete BB Core
4-Update BB Core
5-Delte FTP files and Update other Sitesplat’s extensions
6-Update Flatboots theme

7-Later Update Phpbb to 3.1.10

Any feedback would much appreciated.

Regards,
G

It's safe to update your board to v3.1.10 if you don't have BBpoints installed, therwise wait for the go ahead from Dave.
  1. Put board in offline mode in ACP
  2. Backup files via FTP/SSH
  3. Backup Database
  4. Update phpBB files and run the phpBB update script
  5. Update extensions
  6. Update style
  7. Clear the cache
  8. Enable the board in the ACP

I use that when its 1 file.
But letĂŁ say you want to see on 200 files which was modified, which wasnt. So winmerge helps a lot with that.

Diff checker helps when we are only comparing 1 single file.

I use winmerge for checking single files and multiple files within folders.

Easier than opening both files and copy then pasting the info online.
