Hi,

Is this theme dead? - Doesn't seem to have been any major updates for quite some time.

I also thought there was a much newer template in the works, but even that hasn't had any new info for quite some time.

Is it still safe to stick with this template? - I'm worried if some breaking bug appears down the line that it won't be supported or fixed.

I'm having doubts

I went all in on this theme so changing for me would be painful. But what I've done is stop updating phpBB so that everything I have is stable and doesn't have new variables introduced because of updates. I know it's not ideal but I can't risk having something come up that can't be fixed.

This is what I mean. When I first got the theme this forum was buzzing with activity, things were happening, updates were regular but it now feels to have dwindled out.

Stats show not a lot of people online anymore, mostly me and the google bot each time I visit this site. The theme creators last post was in December and it just feels like this theme and its supporters who have invested both time and money in the theme have been abandoned.

It would just be nice to have an update on what exactly is going on in the background and whether of not its worth people sticking with the theme or not.

I too have invested a lot in the template, and made quite a lot of tweaks and CSS changes and I want to continuously update and use the latest version of phpBB whenever they are released, but if the background code, i.e. BBCore, suddenly breaks and stops functioning, with no sign of any update/fix from the author, then we're stuck with a theme we can't use.

I'm worried for the future of sitesplat's themes, unless they've already been pretty much abandoned

You would think if things are ok then Dave would say something but he has never posted since December so read into that what you will.

I also have a lot invested in this theme and it would be sad if this is the end for it, i had a similar experience with the theme i used before this one the author just stopped communicating and then it was unavailable on Theme Forrest with everyone left with no future updates.

I wouldn't expect to see any new extensions or themes tbh...

Many buyers of FLATBOOTS/BBOOTS complained about having to spend a couple of bucks on premium extensions and some were stealing his work and selling it on as their own. Such activities ruin it for the rest of us! That being said, everything works OK for the most part with the latest 3.3.7 release of phpBB. It's simple enough to update the FLATBOOTS/BBOOTS with each new release of phpBB 3.3.x, it will be the release of phpBB 4 that kills FLATBOOTS/BBOOTS and all existing Sitesplat premium extensions.

Nothing lasts forever. I will keep my board updated and running smoothly until the release of phpBB 4 and only then will I look at my options.

This is the best premium template that exists and the best seller... I trust that all this has a solution. Nothing lasts forever, but I don't think it's easy to eliminate a job like this... If Dave doesn't want to continue, (nobody knows that yet, only him) someone could continue with this job. At least that is the hope I have. There is a lot of work here and just keep updating the style and extensions for me is enough. It only remains for Dave to talk to us!

Nothing is dead guys! I'.ve been publicly releasing and maintaining themes and ext and custom work since 2012. Things are still the same... I will be maintaining all the existing extensions and themes. There is stuff that has been in the work for a long time. At some point these new themes and extensions will be released. It's just been very hard in the last 2 years. Life got in the middle pretty aggressively. I'm pretty sure its been the same for many of you since Covid?

thank you for this message (finally), you should have done it much earlier which would have avoided our dissatisfaction ;-)

Yes we all have our personal and professional concerns, we are also experiencing this pandemic and for some of us it is important that the support be fast and efficient for marketing, economic reasons... (BBnewsletter is important for example, as BB seo)

Please keep your word and if you say you're going to look into (a club member's) problem, do so to preserve your credibility and the trust we have in you because that's what it's all about. beyond the money.. This is what will make me renew my club membership!
